Women’s Experiences of Racism in Sweden
June 5 , 2025

We, as the association Hand in Hand for Women, participated in the report launch and seminar in the Swedish Parliament under the theme: "How can the fight against racism become more gender-equal?"
Ebba Nikolic Kajrup, the report author, presented the new report by @kvinnoorganisationerna, which includes proposals on how women’s living conditions can be highlighted within anti-racist work. The report is based on a review of the Swedish government’s reporting to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
All participating organizations shared their experiences and how women encounter racism – both through their professional work and personal stories.
Our founder, @hacer_korucu_1, concluded the seminar with a powerful and important closing statement. In her speech, she emphasized the report's significance for foreign-born women and the importance of making their voices heard. She described the challenges these women face in society, based on Hand in Hand for Women’s work, and stressed why inclusive and democratic spaces are crucial to combating racism against these women.'
Hacer said:"We absolutely cannot ignore racism and sexism against women – regardless of gender, skin color, ethnicity, or other factors. All people have equal worth, regardless of beliefs, faith, skin color, or sexual orientation."
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this important seminar! 💜
